We hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  It’s been a hot one here in the United States and a very rainy one with lots of mudslides in Guatemala. 

Our quarterly update on all of the exciting programs is below.

SANA Healthcare Clinic

We continue to provide medical and dental care for more than 500 patients a month.  We have also performed 12 dental surgeries during the past 3 months and are the only facility in Santa Maria capable of doing these.

With prenatal vitamins and supplemental food, our moms-to-be in the pregnancy program are delivering babies within the recommend length & weight categories!  Only 2% of our babies this year are below the standards compared to 27% before we began our program.

Educational Activities

A few of our students have left the preschool due to conflicts with parents schedules and some families leaving Santa Maria.  We still have 113 attending classes.  Our preschool ends in mid-October.  We will then have fun vacation classes open to all 4 and 5 year olds in Santa Maria from late October through November.   

In our library we are offering two book clubs each month attended by 30 children each. Tutoring is helping more than 200 students each month.

Our 32 scholarship students are doing well.  The six that are in 8^th grade will advance to 9^th grade for 2024. Our 26 other students are doing well in 7^th grade and we only anticipate issues with two students but hopefully with tutoring they will improve.
